Graphic Design & The Food Experience
Essay based design
OBJECTIVE Based on an essay I wrote about the connection between design and people and food, I created I series of visuals. A handmade booklet showcased the story, along with a presentation and picnic basket.
CONCEPT The concept for this revolved around Food, Design, and the Arts and Crafts Movement. I also explored the themes of the slow food movement here. At its core, this is about connection and community.
VISUALS To represent the concept visuals, I created illustrations that connected to the Arts and Crafts Movement but with a modern approach. Intricate illustrations of botanicals and food items were paired with the type from the essay, which wove in and out through the illustrations.
To underline the idea of eating together and food, I put together a picnic basic, where all the parts came together to make the design. The essay type wove into the picnic basket weave as well.
